Late Afternoon on the Square

Afternoon at Jackson Square

Original – SOLD

Available as Fine Art Reproduction

Late afternoon on Jackson Square can be a quiet time. Most of the artists have packed up their easels and the daytime tourists are winding down. Soon the Square will be filled with boisterous noises from the night revelers, but now all that is heard is the soft music of the calliope from the riverboat while the afternoon sun slants through the branches.

I was one of the artists painting and working on the Square, back in the 70′s when I was in art school. It was a fabulous time in my life, just beginning my life-long passion of creating art. I loved the tourists from so many states and countries. I loved visiting with them and, of course, was happy to sell them my canvases. It was the beginning of a wonderful life filled with painting. However, when the day’s work was over, the canvases and brushes put away, and all was fulfilled and peaceful, that was my favorite time of day.
It is in homage to these memories that I created this piece.
