Afternoon on St. Ann
Available as Fine Art Reproduction
Horses and buggies, small quaint hotels fronted by balconies and cobblestone streets, flags of many nations fluttering in the warm breezes – that’s New Orleans. There are so many unique and wonderfully interesting corners in the Quarter, but this one, right off of Jackson Square, is one of my favorites.
One afternoon, I was strolling by and I captured this wonderful driver with his buggy. I knew I had to paint him. I used oil for the piece and the tone of the painting was dictated by the warm tans of his horse, contrasting with the many primary colors of the flags, along with the soft rose tones of the painted homes and small hotels down the street.
